Zelma May Reed, 99 of Abilene, peacefully left this earthly life for her eternal home Thursday, January 7th, 2021. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 12 at the Reed Cemetery located outside of Saint Jo, Texas. The family will receive visitors 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday, January 11 at Scott-Morris Funeral Home in Nocona.
Zelma was born, along with her identical twin, Thelma, on August 29, 1921 to W.B. and Texie Wollet in Pawhuska, OK. She enjoyed her life-long career in the medical field. Zelma was a long-time resident of Dublin, Texas and in 2012 moved to Abilene, where she was a faithful member of Wylie Baptist Church. She dearly loved her Sunday School Class, which kept in constant touch with her even when she could no longer attend. Zelma lived her life as a testimony of Christ's love and was always eager to share how God had blessed her with a good long life.
Zelma touched many lives with her encouraging handwritten notes and letters. She occupied much of her time by crocheting dish cloths with matching pot holders. Many of these special-made sets are cherished by friends and family as tokens of her love. Her favorite pastime was getting lost in her oil paintings. She could let hours pass tending to each and every detail of a painting.
Preceding Zelma in death are her husband, C.R. Reed, Jr.; parents W.B. and Texie Wollet, twin sister, Thelma Lomas; daughter, Mary Lynn Simpson; and grandson Cody Proa along with many other loved ones.
Left to cherish her memory include son and daughter-in-law Cecil and Mary Reed of Los Fresnos, daughter and son-in-law Angela and Joe Vann of Abilene, daughter Debra Reed of Gainesville, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and treasured friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reed Cemetery c/o Donna Reeves, 3170 Talley Rd. Saint Jo, TX 76265.
