William Alexander Whiteacre

February 17, 1965 — December 21, 2019

William Alexander "Alex" Whiteacre, 54, passed from this life December 21st, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Alex was born February 17th, 1965 to Robert "Bob" and Ima Jewel Whiteacre. Growing up, Alex attended schools in Iowa Park and Wichita Falls. As a young man, he served his country in the United States Army.
Alex always had a song in his heart. He played instruments by ear so well, he made practiced musicians jealous! He loved to sing, and sang beautifully. Alex loved a good concert, and went to many in his younger days. Alex was also a skilled artist. He drew all sorts of things, but his favorites were Garfield and Odie. Alex took great joy in making model cars, and he especially loved woodworking with his Daddy. Alex was an avid reader, and loved a great novel.
Alex was an avid sports fan. He grew up watching the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Texas Rangers, and Houston Rockets. He always loved his Texas teams, and attended many games in his life. After moving to Tulsa, he enjoyed teams there as well.
From earliest childhood on up, Alex marched to the beat of his own drum.
Alex was raised in a Christian home. His understanding of God adapted throughout his life, but he kept his faith throughout. As his struggle with cancer grew more difficult, he knew his trust was in the grace of Jesus Christ to bring him home.
Alex was preceded in death by his father Bob Whiteacre, son Alvin Whiteacre, sister Robin Morris, and infant brother Timothy Whiteacre.
Alex is survived by his daughter Ashley Whiteacre, mother Ima Jewel Whiteacre, three grandchildren: Kasche Russell, Jesse Henderson, and Alexis Russell, nephew John Morris, Jr., Aunt Cleo Estes, uncle Billy Wayne (and Kathy) James, and numerous cousins.
Bob and Ima adopted Alex at birth, and when the adoption was complete, his parents heard a poem that rings true to this day: "Not flesh of my flesh or bone of my bone, But never forget, for even a minute, you weren't born under my heart, but in it."
Family and friends will remember the joy Alex could bring to a room and his kind, generous heart.
Alex's funeral will be December 26, 2019 at the Nocona Church of Christ, 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at West Hill Cemetery in Sherman. Arrangements are under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home of Nocona, and John Morris, Jr. will officiate.
