Ruby Evelyn Hilliard

Ruby Evelyn Hilliard, 94 of Nocona, passed from this life Sunday, August 11th. Ruby was born April 13, 1925 to Bill and Gertrude Wilson in Burneyville, OK.
Ruby grew up in Nocona and graduated from Ringgold High School in 1943. Ruby loved playing volleyball and was a star player for Ringgold. She was even selected for the all-county team two years in a row. As a young adult, Ruby continued playing adult volleyball in local tournaments and was frequently selected as one of the top players in tournaments. She met Loyd Hilliard, and the two married August 12, 1944 in Gainesville.
Throughout her life, Ruby enjoyed fishing at the Red River and Lake Nocona, as well as taking drives with Loyd through the countryside of Montague County.
Ruby took great joy in being a homemaker, wife, and mother. She often said that the best times of her life were spent raising their two daughters, Pauline and Phyllis.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Loyd as well as her daughter Phyllis. She is survived by her daughter Pauline Hilliard of Uvalde.
Ruby's life was full of love for her family. She will be deeply missed, but she has gone on to receive her reward from her Savior.
Ruby's funeral will be Wednesday, August 14, 10:00 AM at Scott-Morris Funeral Home with Austin Wright officiating.
