Robert Lee Andrews

February 7, 1937 — March 19, 2020

Robert Lee Andrews, 83, passed from this life March 19th, 2020 in Nocona, TX. He was born February 7, 1937 to Roy Atwell and Mable Wheeler Andrews in Fort Worth, Texas. He met Shirley Tarwater in 1955 and they were married December 12, 1957 in Smithfield Baptist Church.
Robert worked as a carpenter for his brother J.R. and served in the Air Force Reserves before he joined the Texas Department of Public Safety, Highway Patrol, in March 1967. He was stationed in Weatherford as Trooper; Hillsboro and Cleburne as Sergeant; McAllen, then San Angelo as Lieutenant where he retired in 1993.
An avid outdoorsman, Robert loved hunting, fishing, and golfing. In retirement, he shared his love of the outdoors as hunt manager and guide for Ketchum Mountain Ranch in Irion County and as a fishing guide on Lake Ivie.
Robert was a voracious reader and could recite lengthy passages from his favorite books, poems, songs, and movies. He loved beautiful music and was an excellent story teller.
In December 1999, he and Shirley moved to Nocona Hills, where they took great joy as active members of the Nocona Hills Community Church.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by all as his siblings: John R. Andrews, Dorothy Jean Doyle, and Charles T. Andrews.
Robert is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; son Alan Robert Andrews and wife Lenna of Chester, NY; grandchildren Robert Michael Andrews and Evelyn Ruth Andrews, nieces and nephews, and constant companions Callie and Red.
While Robert's family and friends miss him, they take comfort in knowing he trusted his life to Jesus. Like the apostle Paul, Robert could honestly say, "I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith."
Robert's memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in memory of Robert can be made to Nocona Hills Community Church, 104 Nocona Dr., Nocona, TX 76255
