Mike Warton

Michael Frank "Mike" Warton passed from this life December 4th, 2019 at the age of 63. Mike was born September 14th, 1956 in Lubbock, TX to Bobby and Thelma Warton. Mike met Mayful (Johnson), and the two married on April 16, 1982 in Morton. Mike spent his work life in the construction business, and was very good at what he did. He could build just about anything, and could fix just about anything, too! Mike was a devoting, loving husband to Mayful. He was a committed father to all his children. And he took great joy in his grandchildren. Mike was also a very talented musician. He especially loved playing his guitar and writing songs. Everyone who knew Mike knew he put his full faith in God. Mike was a long time member and recent pastor of Illinois Bend Church. He was also an active member of the Peacemakers Ministry. Mike strove to live out his faith daily. He enjoyed helping others wherever they needed, and he was an expert in forgiving others. When Mike wasn't working or making music, he also enjoyed the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Kathy Hargis, and his brother Randall Warton. Mike is survived by his wife Mayful; son Christopher and wife Megan of Carlsbad, NM, daughter Amy Poole and husband Andrew of Nocona, daughter Amanda Davis and husband Dwight of Wichita Falls; brothers Jerry Warton of Nocona, Ronnie Warton and wife Andrea of Dexter, NM, Tony Warton and wife Stacy of ­Nocona; sister Julie Johnston and husband Eddie of Houston; eleven grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. While our hearts break at Mike's departure, we know that he is in heaven, enjoying the reward he lived for. The funeral service for Mike will be Monday, December 9, 2019 10 AM, at First United Methodist Church, with interment to follow at Spanish Fort Cemetery, under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home, with Jay Gaston officiating.
