Gloria Jean Goolsby

April 23, 1947 — September 4, 2020

Gloria Jean Goolsby went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, September 4, 2020 in Nocona, Texas. She was born April 23, 1947 in Spanish Fort, Texas to Arnold and Glenys Foster Goolsby. She was a 1965 graduate of Prairie Valley where she was active in basketball, volleyball, and FFA. She then attended Ranger Junior College where she played basketball as well. She had life long friendships from both high school and college that she kept all her life. After college she returned home where she worked for the Nocona Boot Company as a secretary. Later, she moved to the Nocona Belt Company along side her boss Mel Chapman, she was his right-hand man. In 1988, she made the decision to walk away from a career that she loved to fulfill a greater purpose of taking her parents back to their home, after many years of nursing home and hospital stays, to live out the rest of their lives. She diligently became the caregiver to her parents and did so willingly, lovingly and with great honor and respect and with very little financially. Her mom passed away in 1991; then she continued to care for her bed-ridden father for ten additional years. There is no doubt she earned her wings. To our family she was an angel on Earth. After the passing of her father she continued to live on the Goolsby home place in Spanish Fort until later moving to Grace Care in Nocona. She enjoyed all the family gatherings, her friends, Avon, baking, cooking, and serving others. She especially enjoyed her bible study time and was very disciplined in her study. Above everything else in her life, Gloria loved the Lord and was a dedicated believer and faithful servant. She is preceded in death by her parents and one special great-niece. She is survived by her brother Eddie Goolsby and wife Trisha of Nocona, nieces and nephews: Shawn and Cody Goolsby, Brandy and Randy Mudd, Dusty and Craig Smith, Ginger and Chris Waldrip, all of Nocona. Also numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Baptist Church in Spanish Fort under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral home, on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 2:00PM.
