Dorothy Mae Whitecotton

Dorothy Mae Whitecotton passed away on May 8, 2022 in Nocona, Texas at the age of 89 years old. Dorothy was born in Bowie, Texas to Roy and Ilus (Tate) McMillion on June 15, 1932. She attended Stoneburg School and was valedictorian. This is where she also met her high school sweetheart and future husband Robbie Whitecotton, they married on January 9,1952 and remained so for 70 years.

Together this dynamic duo ran Whitecotton Greenhouse. They started the greenhouse in the early 70's with vegetables only. They added flowers in 80's and partnered with her son and daughter in law, David and Helen, in 1988. She loved the customers and the flowers both. Customers and employees alike could attest to her honest, fair, focused, devoted business mind. Mrs. Whitecotton was a very dependable person. If she told you she was going to do something then you could consider it done. Dorothy also enjoyed sewing clothes, quilting, and doing puzzles; but besides her family the greenhouse was her great love.

Mrs. Whitecotton is preceded in death by her parents, and her daughter Janet Whitecotton.

Mrs. Whitecotton is survived by her husband Robbie Whitecotton, son Robert Whitecotton (and Diana Smith), son David Whitecotton (and wife Helen). She has seven grandchildren: Lorinda Faye Timms, Thomas James Whitecotton, Sarah Anne Morrow, Michael Gene Whitecotton, Mark Christopher Whitecotton, Fayde Hunter Smith and Timothy James Whitecotton, eleven great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2022 at Scott-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Services will immediately follow at 2:00 PM at the chapel with interment at Montague Cemetery following services.
