She was born October 30, 1934 in the Burr Oak Community to Hugh and Emily Brown Snapp. She was preceded in death by her parents. She married John Gaston in 1950. They raised four children and had many grandchildren and great grandchildren who loved to go to Nana and Papa's house. She is survived by her husband John; daughter Kay Moore and husband Bob; son J.M. Gaston and wife Candy; daughter Marsha Hofbauer and husband Mike; daughter Letha Hillard; sister Geneva Whittenburg and husband Jim; sister Ellen McMurray and husband Ken; brother Gary Snapp and wife Barbara; 19 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate Carolyn's life will be held at the Illinois Bend Church on Thursday, November 1, 2012, at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to the Gideon's International at P.O. Box 1172 Bowie, TX 76230.
