Bill Paine

Bill Paine, formerly of Nocona, passed away at his home in Lakeline, Ohio November 14th, 2017 at the age of 95. Billie R. "Bill" Paine was born in Nocona November 10th, 1922 to "Giggs" and Linnie (Argabright) Paine and grew up in Nocona.
During the Great Depression, Bill served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. On November 28th, 1942, Bill entered the United States Army. Bill served as part of the 10th Armored Division which was crucial in the Siege of Bastogne and in the larger Battle of the Bulge. He earned a Bronze Star with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and a Presidential Citation for his service. After his discharge, Bill continued to support United States soldiers through generous gifts of time and monetary donations to Veterans Affairs.
Bill married Betty Jo (Cooper) of Saint Jo, TX on March 23, 1943. They had two children and were married until 1976. She passed away in 2007.
After his discharge Bill went into the construction industry. Bill went to work for Cleveland Crane Engineering, building overhead cranes and monorail systems all over the world and becoming International Construction Manager.
Always working with his hands, when he wasn't building cranes, Bill loved woodworking. When he retired at nearly 85 years old, he devoted himself even more to this hobby. Bill loved making furniture in particular, and made numerous pieces for his family and for the Molsbee Chapel Church in Nocona.
Bill met Delores Simmons, and the two married June 16, 1980 in Eastlake, Ohio. Delores preceded Bill in death, as did his son Charles David Paine.
Bill is survived by his daughter Marjorie Drayton and husband Bruce of Temecula, CA; granddaughters Jennifer and Shelby Drayton of Sacramento, CA; grandsons Drew Paine of Yorba Linda, CA and Zachery Paine and wife Jennifer of Anaheim, CA, and great-granddaughter Maddie Paine of Anaheim, CA.
Though Bill traveled the world, home was always Lakeline, Ohio. And yet, he always had a spot in his heart for Texas, too. Bill insisted that his final resting place be in Nocona, next to his beloved "Granny," Sudie Paine Skinner.
Bill's family has entrusted his care to Scott-Morris Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at Molsbee Chapel Cemetery, Saturday, December 2nd at 11:00 AM.
