Anna Darlene Lemons

May 25, 1943 — August 15, 2024

Anna Lemons passed away on August 15, 2024 in Montague, Texas. She was born Anna Darlene Baugh on May 25, 1943 in Oklahoma City, OK to James Howard Baugh and Marie C. (Inderleid) Baugh.
On August 17,1961 she married the love of her life, Wilton Ray Lemons. Upon his passing they had been married just shy of 57 years, 21 of which they were a military household as he served in the US Army. During this time they had three sons Jess, Bob and Will. They traveled to many places while serving in the military and lived in Germany, Washington, Colorado and Texas. They finally settled in Nocona, Texas in 1981. Anna loved being married to W.R., and she could still describe their wedding day in vivid detail even all these years later.
Anna wore many hats. She was an author, poet, a painter, seamstress, caregiver, and so much more. As a poet, she published a poem titled "One Day" that is in a book in the Library of Congress. She studied at Midwestern State University for her RN's license with a Bachelors degree in nursing. She worked at Wichita General Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas for three years, including serving as Director of Nursing, before suffering a heart attack that forced her into early retirement. She spent many years baking and decorating cakes for friends, family, and the public. Anna loved reading books, teaching, and creating -- whether crochet, knitting, needlework, or painting. Anna was a faithful member of Molsbee Chapel, where she joyfully served as a Bible class teacher and in the Ladies Auxiliary. She had also been a member of the Rebekahs in her youth.
Anna loved the holidays. She decorated her home for each one. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She absolutely loved everything about the holiday from the knowledge of her King and Savior's birthday, to the beautiful lights, and decorations, even to the preparation of the meal and the baking and especially the wonderful time spent visiting with friends and family.
Anna's pride and joy were her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She was an absolutely wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and Christian.
Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her wonderful husband, her nephew James Wade Baugh and a sister-in-law Joanna Baugh.
She is survived by her brother James Baugh and wife Lucille; her sons Jess and wife Lena, Bob and wife Delores, Will and wife Kim, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews. She also appreciated Bro. Don and Rhonda Cheshier, who often visited and brought words of encouragement.
Over her life, the greatest lesson Anna learned was to love with an open heart, to be understanding, and to forgive and forget.
Anna was a spirited woman full of grace and forgiveness. We already miss her with all our hearts.
A celebration of Anna's life will be held August 31, 2024 10AM at Molsbee Chapel Church, Nocona, TX. Donald Cheshier will officiate. Scott-Morris Funeral Home will handle the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers she requested donations be made to Molsbee Chapel Church.
